HARARE — Businessman Wicknell Chivayo — widely known as Sir Wicknell — has gifted comedian and musician Frets Donzvo a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner GD6 and US$10,000 in cash, the latest in his high-profile run of public giveaways to Zimbabwean entertainers.
Chivayo announced the gift on his social media pages in August 2026, telling Donzvo where to collect the vehicle — the same instruction-style announcement he has used for dozens of beneficiaries since the giving spree began in early 2024.
Why Frets Donzvo?
Frets Donzvo — real name Liberty Jeure — has been one of the breakout entertainers of the year. His satirical song “Sipidhi” became Zimbabwe’s most-talked-about soundtrack after it dropped in January 2026, poking fun at influencer culture, “borrowed clout” and the scramble for blue ticks.
The track rode the wave of drama that followed American YouTube superstar IShowSpeed’s visit to Zimbabwe in January 2026, when several local influencers were “blue-ticked” after meeting the star. Frets turned the online fallout into a brutally funny roast of validation-seeking — even taking shots at his own friends in the influencer space.
“Sipidhi” racked up more than 1.7 million views on Facebook within days of its release and close to 100,000 on YouTube, becoming a soundtrack for TikTok creators recreating blue-tick scenarios and mocking desperate DMs. Fans praised its honesty, with one viral comment summing up the mood: “He turned second-hand embarrassment into a hit. Genius move.”
Celebrities embraced it too. Madam Boss was filmed dancing to the song saying “wavharisa,” while Lorraine Guyo and Mama Vee laughed along at the influencers roasted in the lyrics.
The Fortuner is the new Aqua
Frets joins a growing list of comedians who have been rewarded with vehicles for making the nation laugh. Others who have received cars from Chivayo include Bhutisi and Kedha, veteran comedian Kapfupi, MaVery, Yahya Goodvibes and Allen Skits, and more recently Mr Ridhikurasi.
Chivayo has said the Toyota Aqua — once his standard gift — had become too common, declaring in 2026 that the Toyota Fortuner is “the new Aqua”. The Frets Donzvo gift follows that upgrade, and comes in the same week Chivayo pledged US$1 million for church development and two luxury vehicles to Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.
By early 2026, estimates suggested Chivayo had distributed between 220 and 250 vehicles since the campaign began, with investigations pointing to more than US$9.3 million spent on cars and gifts within a 12-month period.
Gratitude and controversy
The gift has drawn its share of both celebration and criticism. Supporters applaud the businessman for rewarding homegrown talent at a time when Zimbabwean entertainers are often underpaid. Critics, however, continue to question the opaque origins of his wealth and the political ties behind a giving spree that some argue buys influence rather than reflects philanthropy.
Some posts on social media have confused the source of the vehicle, with a few suggesting it came from President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Credible reports attribute the reward to Chivayo. Frets Donzvo has not yet publicly responded to the gift as of this writing.
For Frets Donzvo, the Fortuner is a fitting capstone to a year in which comedy, music and timing combined into one of Zimbabwe’s biggest viral moments — and a reminder that in the country’s influencer economy, a well-aimed punchline can still pay off handsomely.
