Tamper alerts are triggered by the meter's own sensors, including when the meter is opened, moved, or exposed to certain interference. They typically require a technician and a clearance code. Do not attempt to open the meter — that turns a service call into an offence.
The units run down far faster than usual
Look for a faulty geyser thermostat, an immersion element that is not switching off, a fridge running continuously, or a bypassed connection on your side of the meter. A sudden change in consumption almost always has a physical cause.
A power cut while you have units
Load shedding and faults are separate from your balance. Your units remain on the meter and are not lost during an outage.
